Power of One
The juniors are presently working toward their Power of One Badge. It is the first in a series of three badges in the Change your World program. We have been learning about our own individual “powers” as girls scouts, getting to know ourselves better and what we can accomplish by helping others in our every day worlds.
We also began researching other women heroes (or heroines) from history, our community, and even amongst our own families. This is meant to be a fun exercise they will complete by our next meeting by doing an interview with a woman from their family or researching about a woman in history – and her accomplishments. (Did I hear someone say GOOGLE her?)
As we pool our information together in the coming weeks, the juniors will be learning more about other women that have accomplished great things, using their power to change our world. These same women will be able to inspire our juniors to work toward doing the same – making a difference where they can – even today at the tender age of junior girl scouts.
